As the year comes to a close, we want to pause and say thank you to everyone who has supported Obaggo throughout the year — our customers, subscribers, friends, partners, and the many people actively helping to move this project forward.
This past year wasn’t an easy one for the plastic bag and film recycling industry. Major project cancelations, rising costs, tariffs, and broader market challenges made things especially tough for small, mission-driven efforts like ours. But thanks to your commitment, encouragement, and belief in what we’re building, Obaggo made real progress.
Together, Obaggo users recycled an estimated 13,000 pounds of plastic bags and film this year alone. That’s a powerful reminder that small, consistent actions — multiplied by a caring community — truly add up. Every Obaggo disk helped keep a dozen plastic bags out of landfills and moved us closer to a more circular, sustainable system.
We’re also grateful for our partners who helped make this possible, especially our collaboration with Helpsy, whose clothing and shoe donation bins across Eastern Massachusetts made recycling more convenient and accessible for so many of you. And we are very appreciative of the students and faculty at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Plastic Engineering department, who have been researching the best ways to process the Obaggo disk material. Thanks also to TerraCycle who has been accepting Obaggo disks in their ZeroWaste boxes. We are also very appreciative of the efforts of so many people and organizations who have worked to support our mission of creating a circular economy for plastic bags and packaging film. These kinds of shared efforts show what’s possible when organizations work together toward a common goal.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been improving the Obaggo product itself — making it more durable, easier to use, and ready for what’s next. In the face of tremendous cost pressures, we've maintained our pricing and will continue our efforts to drive prices down.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to begin a whole new phase of our plastic circularity mission. Up until now, we have focused on developing and delivering our unique plastic bag densification technology, and Pilot-Testing various collection methods for the disks. This coming year, we will focus on the downstream activities of reprocessing the Obaggo disk material, and manufacturing it into real, useful products.
Your messages of encouragement throughout the year have meant more than we can say. They’ve fueled our motivation, strengthened our resolve, and reminded us why this work matters.
As we head into the new year, we’re feeling hopeful, energized, and deeply grateful. Thank you for being part of the Obaggo community and for helping turn a challenging year into one filled with progress and possibility.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a bright, sustainable year ahead. 🌟
Obaggo
